Nuala O'Connor has experience in both the public and in the private sector. Sh started as a global privacy leader at General Electric, an then became Amazon's as vice president of compliance and consumer trust for data protection and privacy. She was deputy director of the Office of Policy and Strategic Planning at the Department of Commerce of the US government. Currently she is the President and CEO of the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT).
