«Tsipras was tortured, he was in a room for 17 hours». Yanis Varoufakis, former Greek Finance Minister, tells us what happened on July 12 in the room where greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and German Chancellor Angela Merkel were negotiating. After giving his resignation, anticipating those of the Prime Minister himself, Varoufakis retraced his last year with us and criticized European leaders: «I was negatively impressed by the low level of interaction and lack of trust».

Yianis Varoufakis was Minister of Finance of Greece and in January 2015 he was elected to the European Parliament as a member of SYRIZA. He is a political economist and his academic appointments included posts at the University of Essex, East Anglia, Cambridge, Glasgow, Sydney, Athens and Austin. Since the beginning of the economic crisis of 2008 he has written several books on the subject.
